Each fall we look for enthusiastic employees who desire to work in a safe and fun-filled environment!  

Our primary pre-season hiring takes place each June and we are hiring for our summer and Fall season.  If interested, use the link below to submit the Employment Application.

We have mandatory training that begins mid-August to teach all employees how to provide a safe and fun-filled visit for our guests!

 FAQs about working at Rader Family Farms

Q: Where is the farm located? 

A: 1312 Ropp Road, Normal, IL 61761

 

Q: When is the farm open for the Fall season? 

A: The farm season runs from Sept. 9 through Oct. 29. 

  • Wednesdays - Sunday and Columbus Day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.  
  • Two Chick-fil-A Flashlight Night Mazes: 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, and  Oct. 14
  • Texas Roadhouse Last Lazy Daze Flashlight Maze: 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28

Q: What shifts are available? 

A: Generally, during the week the actual shifts are from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 2 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. That allows time for opening and closing procedures; times vary depending upon the assigned role.  

 

Q: What positions are available? 

A: Activity Attendants, Field Trip Guides, Admissions/Greeters, Tram/Critter Cart Drivers, Produce (Pumpkins/Gourds), Retail/General Cashiers, Food Prep and Servers, Baristas, Runners (delivering supplies), Grounds Maintenance and Cleaning, Corn Maze Attendants and Barn Keepers in our Animal Barn.  

 

Q: What are the weekly hour requirements? 

A: Employees are expected to work a minimum of 10 hours/week (which includes at least one weekend shift per week) AND​ two Flashlight Maze shifts OR​ one Columbus Day shift and one Flashlight Maze shift (shifts are about 4.5 hours each).

 

Q: What is the work attire? 

A: The farm will provide T-shirts to wear to work (you wash them) and you can wear clean jeans, knee-length shorts, or capris, and closed-toe shoes.  Food service workers have additional requirements.

 

Q: Are there things that are not allowed while I am at work? 

A: No smoking or vaping is permitted on the farm, and no cellphones or electronic devices are allowed during work hours. Cellphones and devices are to be kept in the employee lockers or in the car and can be used during breaks only. The farm’s business phone can be used to reach employees in an emergency.

 

Q: What are the expectations of the employees? 

A: We expect a positive attitude while working, that you can function as an independent worker, that you work well with others, enjoy people, and you can motivate yourself (staying productive). We expect employees to have availability during the short fall season and that you are dependable, responsible and punctual. ​Employees are expected to arrive ready to work, prepared to complete your job/s at your highest possible ability with a smile on your face! As our guests anticipate a fun-filled day at Rader Family Farms, we have high expectations for each employee in every position to make that happen.

 

Q: What are group interviews? 

A: Group interviews are a fun way for us to meet and observe many new potential employees at once! We may do some group activities and you may be asked a few questions about yourself. We will be looking for people who are excited to work at Rader Family Farms, who mix well with others, and who can work with the public.

Q:  Will I receive training?

A: We will provide on-the-job training as well as hands-on training with the public during private events. A mandatory employee orientation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 15.
